Jeep and Its Remarkable History

It was during World War II that history jeep began. And it is safe to say that there are no other motor vehicle has ever inspired the kind of respect and affection bestowed the World War II jeep.

The jeeps demonstrated success for the American Army during the World War II battle. But before the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 the jeeps have already proven their worth in battle all over the globe.

The jeep has many advantages. It’s small and compact feature made it possible to be easily transported to battle areas by plane or glider, dropped by parachute, or floated across a river.   It was the time that the Jeep became very popular to the rich and famous as it was to the ordinary Joe.

There are many famous personalities that have used the Jeep in the early times.

Madame Chiang Kai-shek toured Cairo riding a Jeep together with General Claire Chennault as her chauffeur.

Queen Elizabeth also used a jeep in her wartime visit to Northern Ireland. President Franklin D. Roosevelt also rode in a jeep as he reviewed the troops in Morocco.

General George S. Patton chose a jeep as a substitute of a staff car for his trip to Fatale, Morocco, when he accepted the surrender of the French resident general there.

Also, Prime Minister Winston Churchill sat in a jeep as he observed attentively the historic landings at Normandy.

Surely, Hollywood got into the act. Jeeps have been used in movies like Four Jills in a Jeep.  Somehow this remarkable vehicle earned trust, demanded respect, and bounced its way into the hearts and souls of all who came into contact with it.
